VP commends police for eliminating long-sought top terrorist

Vice President Boediono here Wednesday expressed appreciation for the National Police`s success in eliminating top terrorist Dulmatin alias Djoko Pitono in a raid in Pamulang, Tangerang, the day before.

"I conveyed the government`s appreciation to the National Police and all other agencies as well as elements of the community that have given their support (to achieve the success)," Boediono said after an unscheduled meeting with National Police Chief General Bambang Hendarso Danuri at his office.

Boediono is running the government while President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is away to make state visits to Australia and Papua New Guinea (PNG).

He said Hendarso had reported that in raids at different locations in Pamulang on Tuesday police shot dead three terror suspects, and one of them proved to be the most wanted top militant Dulmatin.

"According to a comprehensive and officially confirmed police report, one of the three dead terror suspects was Dulmatin," Boediono said.

He said the government would continue to tackle the terrorism problem in the country. "We will certainly continue conducting counter-terrorist operations," he added.

Earlier in the day, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at a meeting with Australian Prime Minister Kevin Ruud in Canberra broke the news that long-wanted top terrorist Dulmatin was killed in a police raid in Pamulang, Tangerang. (antara.Com/AS)
